Steve Kaplan is Vice President of Customer Success Finance at Nutanix where he heads a team of global business value architects who use a financial framework (ROI/TCO) to help enterprise customers and prospects optimize hybrid cloud solutions. Kaplan previously started and ran the channels program for Nutanix Americas and participated in helping the company promote its hyperconverged infrastructure technology and eventually go public.
Prior to joining Nutanix in early 2013, Steve started, ran, and sold two award-winning IT consulting firms. Along with writing hundreds of articles (including publications such as Forbes, InformationWeek and IT Pro Today), blogs and white papers, he has co-authored 8 books on VMware and Citrix technologies, and in 2019 completed his first solo book, The ROI Story: A guide for IT leaders. Kaplan has held positions on the advisory boards of several industry manufactures and was a Microsoft MVP for 4 years. He is one of 9 people who was a VMware vExpert for the first 10 years of the program. He was also one of three people on the EMC pre-sales advisory council.
Kaplan has a patent pending on a financial modeling methodology and an associated algorithm. He holds an MBA from Northwestern with emphases in both finance and marketing as well as and a BS in Business Administration from UC Berkeley. In addition to his work at Nutanix, Steven is an early investor through HMG Ventures in disruptive companies such as Horizon3.ai and IncredibleMind.
